The kitchen in the heart
of your home - it's where your family and friends gather to visit while dinner
is being cooked, it's where your kids sit at the counter and do homework, it's
where your family connects at the beginning and end of the day, and more!
If you are building a
new home, looking for a new home, or planning to remodel your existing kitchen,
here are a few things to consider:
1. Know the most common kitchen layouts and which one you prefer. This is especially important
if you are building a home or looking for an existing home as a simple remodel
may not allow for a total layout change.
2. Where are the appliances?
Do your fridge, stove, and sink create a work triangle?
3. Do cabinets
and drawers maximize available space? Can additional cupboards be
added above or on another wall?
4. Is there adequate lighting to
prepare meals and to set the right mood in the room? Don't forget natural
light!
5. Do you have an
island or can you add an island for additional seating and storage?
6. Does the kitchen have
room for a table or is a separate dining area required?
7. What finishes are
there? Stained or Painted Cabinets? Stainless Steel Appliances? Tile Backsplash?
Granite Countertops?
This is just a small
list of things to consider for your kitchen. The most important thing is to make your kitchen your own and function for
you so you can enjoy all the time you spend there.
