Selecting Paint Color

Selecting a paint color can be a daunting task -
you visit your local paint or hardware store and look at the wall of colors to choose from, most of which are tiny square swatches of the color. You pull several colors that you like, look at them over and over, take a few home and then head back to the store to look again. Sound familiar?

Here's a quick tip for narrowing down your choices:

Narrow your color choice down to a select few - for example your selected color and one shade lighter and one shade darker; and get a sample of the paint colors. Most stores will do this for you at a fraction of the cost of purchasing a full gallon of paint. Instead of going home and painting the samples on your walls - committing you to painting sooner than later, get a few pieces of white poster board and paint each sample on a full sheet.  Once the poster board is dry, use painter's tape and hang it on the wall.  Live with the colors for a few days. Make sure to notice how it looks in the day and in the night.

Once you select your color, make sure to select the right type of paint for the room and take the time to properly prep your walls.  We will be posting tips and tricks on our Facebook page this week, so be sure to check them out.
